  • This book is a feel good book. I haven't read a really funny book like this for ages, and it was really refreshing. The characters were wonderful, I fell in love with Flora straight away and as for Tom well even though he is the baddie I think all women would admire him but maybe from a distance. I must admit I couldn't put this book down as I knew with every page that something would make me laugh out loud. Fantastic easy read and Lynda has written it well, will be looking out for more of Lynda [...]

  • Good god, how did this get so many five star reviews? It was bloody awful. Lynda Renham's heroines are usually dumb as rocks, but this one in particular was also ableist and casually racist in a desperate (though extremely lazy) attempt to make her "relatable".

  • This is a romcom that actually had me laughing out loud in a couple of places, always the sign of a well written book! It’s easy to read, the style carries you along and the characters are well drawn. Flora in particular is hilarious and her food quirks and language had me in stitches. Tom is delightful despite being the enemy and Flora’s friends and colleagues are people you wish you had around you when the going gets tough. There are no great surprises as far as plot but when you finish the [...]

  • Cute, but why does the main female character have to be such an airhead? She gets annoyed at her mother for mixing up words, and the story persists with her mixing up substance/subsidence. She sounds very dumb. (Also, what's with the high maintenance ordering of food/drinks? At least, acknowledge taking from When Harry Met Sally!)

  • It is my first Lynda's book that I've read, although I have her "It Had to be You" on my kindle. Just couldn't find enough time to read all the great stories, it's a shame, really. I've heard that she writes brilliantly funny romcoms and I thought that it's absolutely something for me, and couldn't wait to start reading this one. Flora (nothing to do with the margarine), or Flo, like her friends call her, is in relationship with Luke and hopes to be engaged to him before she's thirty. Unfortunat [...]

  • I thought books like this went out of fashion in the Noughties, along with Confessions of a Shopaholic. Typical fluffy Chick Lit that missed the Women's Lib boat. Feminist avoid this!!!"Heroine" is the cliché bimbo, ditzy girly girl materialistic (designer shoes and handbag obsessed) airhead, desperate to get married that she's dating a guy she appears to despise, and so unbelievably clueless that she makes Paris Hilton resemble Einstein.Of course this AIRHEAD hairdresser (a change from a Weddi [...]

  • Flora and Luke have been together for over two years and while everyone around her is moving forward with their relationships theirs seems to be stuck. Flora tries to get Luke to propose, but all of her plans fail miserably. Luke isn't very nice to her and she can never do anything right, but she tries her very best for him. Flora has one wish, she wants to be engaged before she's 30. When her small car hits a big Audi the owner asks her to have a drink with him. His name is Tom and he's gorgeou [...]

  • At the start we meet Flora (no relation to the margarine). Flora is desperate for her boyfriend, Luke, to propose. She feels she is wildly over the hill at thirty. During one terrible day, her best friend gets engaged, she gets asked to be Maid of Honour (this will be the third time!), she prangs a car owned by a gorgeous hunk, and her salon, which is her pride and joy, is targeted for an aggressive buyout. She decides to fight the supermarket trying to get her to sell her salon and starts a pro [...]

  • Loved this book :) The pranks were awesome and had me smiling the entire time. The chemistry between Tom and Flo was dreamy. Tom was breathtaking, and Flo was so cute and funny. Really an amazing read. Would love to see this play out on the big screen. Would recommend this to all. It was also nice for a change to see a female MC who wasn't "perfect." She loved chocolate, hated working out and wasn't a model. Wish I could give more than five stars :)

  • if you like chick lit you must read lynda renham! I loved all of her books so I snapped this p the moment it came out and I was not disappointed. run, do not walk, to your nearest kindleor nookor bookstore

  • Lynda didn't let me down. Another fabulously funny well written book by one of my favourite authors. This is a laugh out loud book that really gets the chuckle muscles working. I most certainly will recommended this book to friends x

  • Roy's ProposalFunny, cute and wow. I could not get into it at first, but I kept reading and then could not put it down. I really liked the story line, it kept a smile on my face. Thanks.

  • What a wonderful laugh out loud book this was! Flo is a fab character and I felt all her highs and lows. Not going to get the plot away if you love Lynda Renhams previous books then this one will definitely not disappoint you!

  • Loved this book so much! It actually made me lol! A bit predictable & a little frustrating, but I loved it all the same!! A had a book hangover when it was finished!

  • What happens when an outspoken hair salon owner learns her shop is to be bought out and replaced by the Rory's supermarket chain? Read this hilariously funny book and find out!

  • A fun readI started this novel because I needed a break from really intense books. This was a fun book to read, although it was somewhat predictable. The characters were well developed- and I particularly enjoyed Rosalind and her nickname for the baby! I highly recommend this novel!

  • Great!!!This story was well put together! An understandable beginning and some good follow through. Not listening and jumping to conclusions will cause unnecessary problems every time.

  • Lynda Renham is a comical genius and all of her books contain hilarity all the way through them. How she can create so many slapstick, comical moments from her imagination is beyond me.Flora is not only a hairdresser, but the proud owner of her own hair salon, on a bustling London high street. When national supermarket chain, Rory’s, want to buy her salon, after acquiring the two adjacent properties, Flora is unwilling to sell, much to the disappointment of her controlling, health nut of a boy [...]

  • There are three central characters in this book Flora, hairdresser salon owner, her long term boyfriend of two years Luke Wright & the enemy Tom Rory, the evil money grabbing, business destroying rich man who happens to just be drop dead gorgeous, but still "The Enemy" The story centres around Flora Robson a hairdresser & salon owner who is 29 years old & has been with her boyfriend Luke for two years & keeps waiting for him to propose because she doesn't want to reach 30 & n [...]

  • Great Funny read. I wish there was a part 2. Reminds me of my husband and how no matter what I do he loves me.

  • This review was supposed to be up yesterday, I’m afraid, but there’s times when you get so into a book that instead of firing on to the finish line to see what happens, you simply want to savour it. THIS is one such book. I’ll get the cons out quickly so that I can move onto the gushing bit. There was (whispers) bad language in it, just an ickle bit, and a few slightly (whispers again) rude bits, but they were appropriately placed and so didn’t make me cringe or anything but if you don [...]

  • Having not read any of Lynda Renham’s previous books I went into her new one with an open mind. I must say that within a few chapters I had fallen in love with the lead character Flora Robson. Flora’s boyfriend Luke is frankly a bit of an idiot. As we get to know Flora you soon realise that any woman that has to stash her chocolate in a Tampax box, so the boyfriend doesn’t find out, seriously needs to look at her relationship. Flora has her own hair salon and she finds herself fighting aga [...]

  • I read three of Lynda Renhams book one after the other and figured out few things : The Women have low paying Jobs or a failing Business. They are with Men who treat them like crap and are crappy in Bed!!They havnt had an orgasm in ages. They See the Hero of novel and have teenage like hormone levels. The Hero is 100 times better than the Boyfriend they are with. There is a lot of luxury life events curtsy of the Hero or some random incidents. There is a Third guy who also treats them as crap prov [...]

  • I have liked Renham's other books; I was looking for an easy read and came across this as a "you've bought so we thought you might like" suggestion on , so I went ahead and purchased it.Unfortunately this was not as good a read as previous books by this author; the main character turned her entire life upside down because she wanted to be engaged by her 30th birthday. Seriously are women that shallow and driven by the desire to be a Mrs that they forget they are independent, intelligent and a we [...]

  • I have read many of Lynda Renham’s books; this is by far my favorite. I laughed so much throughout this entire book. I am not even sure who my favorite character is. Each one has their own quirks and style, making each so lovable and laughable. Tom and Flora were amazing. Their chemistry is obvious and steamy. He was someone that I could almost dislike, but not quite. His sense of humor with the gifts he sent to Flora were so original and funny. Flora was interesting. Her quirks were way out t [...]

  • I started reading this and straight away fell in love with Flora, i mean, who couldn't like Flora? And as for Tom well as with most women i think we all swoon, no matter how much of the baddy he is. The story tells us of Tom and his company trying to shut down Flora's hairdressing shop. But a determind Flora does everything in her power to stop him. This book is by far one of the funniest i have read in quite a while. I literally laughter out loud and when i wasn't laughing i was agreeing with i [...]

  • Wonderfully predictable laugh out loud. I have read all of Lynda Renham's books (except the newest one Fudge Berries) but I must say, this is by far the best yet. This one was written slightly different to the others with every other few chapters turning to the man's point of view. It's always good to get a feel from the man's point of view.I liked Flora. She was a strong willed character, a lot stronger than Lynda's previous characters whilst still remaining a bit ditzy. I'm in love with Tom! P [...]

  • Engrossing and entertaining, Rory's proposal is a funny story about an accident-prone hairdresser who falls in love with the man who should've been her enemy.Flora is pretty funny, a bit of a worrier, and sometimes emotional - to the point where she'll declare war on a mega-corporation to save her salon. The two have the hots for each other. It's obvious and predictable. But it was very interesting to see how they far they were both willing to go for the salon. Tom's certainly swoon-worthy, but h [...]

  • My first read by Lynda Renham, and wow it was such a good read. It was fun, flirty and fabulous. It was hilarious. It was sexy. It was a real page turner. I loved the main character, Flora, she was funny, clumsy, cute, determined. And the male characters were described so well, you instantly fell for the charms and kindness of one and cringed and got annoyed with the other. Also, I will never look at a tube of Bio-flex without laughing again!I was provided with a copy of this ebook for an honest [...]
